Kane County Release Meaning
“Released” describes the end of one custody event, not always a return home. A person may leave Kane County Jail after cash bail, release on pretrial conditions, a court order, or completion of a county sentence. Another person may leave the same building in the custody of the Utah Department of Corrections, another jail, the U.S. Marshals Service, or immigration authorities. Both people have left the county jail, but only one may be free to enter the community.
The Kane County Sheriff records the booking and the movement out of its jail. Courts preserve the case action that authorized many releases. UDC controls state-prison status, the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole controls prison parole decisions, and Adult Probation and Parole supervises many people after release. Federal and immigration cases require their own locators. The destination field and release authority are thus as important as the word “released.”
Absence from Kane County inmate services does not prove community release. Confirm the release type, date, authority, and destination.
Kane County Release Types
Kane County’s official jail description explains that booking collects personal details, fingerprints, and a photograph. A magistrate sets bail within 24 hours. The county distinguishes no-bail detention, cash bail, and release under pretrial conditions. Those local facts help decode a movement entry, but they do not turn every departure into sentence completion.
| Release or movement | Meaning | Next place to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Cash bail or pretrial release | The person leaves jail while the case continues. | Kane court docket and jail release entry |
| Time served or court order | A definite county term ends or a judge directs release. | Judgment, minute entry, and sheriff record |
| State commitment | County custody ends as UDC jurisdiction begins. | UDC Offender Search and Board records |
| Parole | Prison custody ends under conditional AP&P supervision. | Latest Board order and current UDC status |
| Other hold or detainer | Another agency takes custody at the planned release point. | Receiving agency, BOP, court, or ICE channel |
| Discharge or expiration | The controlling sentence or supervision reaches its lawful end. | UDC record, termination order, or GRAMA response |
A dismissal may support release, but it does not prove the jail completed processing at once. A warrant in another case can keep the person confined. Death, escape, sealing, or expungement can also change what public systems show. Read the source record literally and avoid filling gaps with assumptions.
Kane County Release Record Fields
A focused sheriff request should connect the booking event to the movement out. Kane County does not publish a historical release archive, so the responsive record may be the only durable county proof. Ask for an existing booking and release or custody-movement record tied to a full name, date of birth, and approximate booking date.
| Requested field | What it helps establish |
|---|---|
| Booking number | Links the request to one Kane County Jail event. |
| Booking date and time | Separates similar names and repeat bookings. |
| Release date and time | Shows when Kane County processed the departure. |
| Release type or authority | Distinguishes bond, court order, sentence completion, or transfer. |
| Destination or receiving agency | Shows whether custody continued elsewhere. |
| Associated booking photograph | May confirm identity if public and releasable under Utah law. |
Release records do not erase the underlying court case. Nor does a booking record prove guilt. Pair the sheriff response with the district or justice court disposition. That pairing shows both the physical custody event and the legal result that followed it.
Request Kane County Release Records
The Kane County Sheriff records-request page is the direct route for jail records. Its form allows inspection or copies, a preferred format, a cost ceiling, and an explanation for a fee waiver or expedited handling. Requests for private or protected records require identification and proof that the requester is entitled to access them. Controlled records are not released.
- Identify the person and approximate booking period. Describe the booking, release, and movement fields sought with reasonable detail.
- Choose inspection or electronic delivery when useful. State a maximum cost so staff can seek approval before a large search.
- Submit the sheriff’s GRAMA form and preserve the sent copy, date, and delivery proof. Kane states that processing may take up to 10 business days.
- Review any redactions or denial for the record classification and appeal route. Compare the response with the court disposition.
Kane lists $5 for one through ten black-and-white pages, then $0.25 for each added page. Color copies are $1 per page, and video or DVD copies are $25 each. Direct staff, search, retrieval, or administrative costs can also apply, and the county requires its full estimate before processing. Cash, money order, cashier’s check, and a card on request are listed payment routes.
The official sheriff request page shows the local process and fee schedule.
The captured page is useful because it points to the actual records channel, not a commercial roster that may mix counties or dates.

Utah Law on Kane Releases
Utah’s Government Records Access and Management Act, or GRAMA, controls access to state and local records. Utah Code section 63G-2-201 supplies the basic public inspection right. Section 202 gives record subjects and other entitled people special access in defined cases. Sections 203 and 204 cover reasonable fees, waivers, written requests, specificity, response, and expedited processing.
Public access is not absolute. Agencies may withhold or redact private, controlled, or protected content. Juvenile, victim-sensitive, medical, investigative, security, sealed, and expunged material can be unavailable. Record retention follows an approved state, local, or general archives schedule. The fact that a name is missing from a web page says nothing by itself about whether the agency still retains a responsive record.
For a booking photograph, Utah Code section 17-72-802 requires a signed, truthful statement that the image will not be placed in a publish-for-pay product. A protected photo may still be denied. The statute targets a particular commercial publication model and does not make a private image page an official release record.
Expunged Kane County Release Records
Expungement changes public visibility. Utah Courts states that its 2026 process identifies qualifying automatic-expungement cases without the former request step, while petition routes remain for other eligible results. Once a case is expunged, XChange excludes it from public display. Sealed and juvenile matters are also outside the public portal.
A private copy or news image may not vanish at the same time. Utah’s booking-photo statute gives qualifying people a separate removal route for an acquittal, nonprosecution, expungement, vacatur, or pardon when proof is supplied. The stated deadline for that qualifying route is seven days without payment. Ordinary publish-for-pay removal rules use a longer period. A court expungement and a private publisher request are distinct steps.
Kane County Bond Release
Kane County’s jail page says a magistrate sets bail within 24 hours and separates cash bail from release on pretrial conditions. Pretrial Services states that qualifying people may leave jail while waiting for a hearing. This is a key local distinction: leaving on bond or conditions does not mean the charge was dismissed, the person was convicted, or a sentence was completed.
The court docket should show the ongoing case and later outcome. The jail record should show when custody ended and under what authority. A payment on the county civil-process page labeled “Book and Release” is a sheriff service fee, not a public inmate list or a fee to obtain a release certificate.
Find Kane County Released Inmates
Kane County’s online posture is contact-and-request based. There is no official public name roster, booking archive, or release filter on the reviewed jail pages. That makes a layered search more reliable than repeated checks of the current-inmate services page.
- Call Kane County Jail for immediate custody status. Ask whether the person left, transferred, or remains housed.
- Check Utah VINE for a custody event or register for notice. Treat a transfer alert as continued custody.
- Search the Utah court record for the disposition or order behind the movement. Use the free courthouse terminal when XChange is not suitable.
- If UDC took jurisdiction, use the UDC Offender Search and the Board’s hearing and decision search. Read the latest order.
- Use the BOP or ICE locator only when the facts point to federal or immigration custody. Neither is a Kane jail archive.
- Request the sheriff’s release or movement entry for lasting county proof.
The Kane County 24-Hour Release List page explains how to build a bounded same-day request despite the lack of an online feed. For one named person, a narrow request is often faster and less costly than asking for a bulk list.
Kane Release Roster Limits
The official Kane County Inmate Information page provides services for people currently housed, including visitation, calls, mail, and accounts. It does not expose a public name search, booking rows, timestamps, released tab, or photo archive.
The image documents what the county actually publishes. There is no web retention window or update cadence to interpret, so absence from this page cannot establish a release date.
Search results create another local risk. Queries for “Kane County inmate search” or a sheriff app often surface Kane County, Illinois. Verify the `kane.utah.gov` host, a Kanab address, or a clear Utah agency context before trusting a contact number or roster.
UDC Search for Kane Releases
The Utah Department of Corrections Offender Search covers people currently under UDC supervision. It accepts first and last name with at least one letter in each field, an optional middle name, or a UDC number. UDC separately identifies legal status, housing, offenses and sentence, Board hearing date, parole or expiration date, sentencing court and case number, and prison photograph as public information.
| Search field | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| First and last name | Find a current UDC record | At least one letter in both fields |
| Middle name | Narrow similar names | Optional |
| UDC number | Direct identifier search | Must match the corrections record |
| Legal status | Distinguish prison, parole, or another current status | Not a county pretrial field |
| Parole or expiration date | Shows the Utah public date terminology | May change with later Board action |
The official search’s current-supervision scope appears on the UDC page.
A fully discharged person can disappear from this search. That absence is a reason to request an existing UDC record, not proof that no state record exists.
Kane Court Release Proof
Kane County has several relevant courts. District Court handles felony and class A matters, while Kane County and Orderville Justice Courts handle limited-jurisdiction cases. Juvenile cases are not public through XChange. Kanab district coverage is complete from February 24, 2000, though older converted details may be incomplete.
The Utah Courts XChange portal can show parties, case events, filed documents, hearings, judgment, and a completed-case outcome. Search fields include court type, case number, name, case type, county or statewide scope, birth date, citation, and date range. A free CORIS terminal at most district courthouses offers another route, and the clerk can help locate a public record.
The court view supplies legal context, while the sheriff entry confirms the custody movement. Neither should be forced to answer the other system’s job.
Kane Post-Release Supervision
Parole follows a state-prison term and is ordered by the Utah Board. Probation is imposed by a court, often instead of prison or after a jail term. UDC Adult Probation and Parole supervises both groups. Kane County’s jail page lists local AP&P numbers, 435-634-2802 and 435-644-4979, which can help identify the responsible office without seeking private reporting details.
- Parole
- Conditional release from state prison under a Board order.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision that does not itself prove a prison release.
- Discharge
- The lawful end of custody or supervision, shown by the controlling record.
- Absconder
- A supervised person alleged to have stopped reporting or left supervision without permission.
Start with current UDC status, then read the latest Board decision or court order. A future parole date can be rescinded. A warrant or violation can also return a person to custody. More detail appears on the Kane County parole and probation page.
Correct Kane Release Records
A wrong release date, destination, or identity link should first go to the agency that created the record. Kane’s sheriff form allows a requester to describe the exact item and explain entitlement when it is not public. UDC directs corrections and requests for actual documents through GRAMA.
Supply the court order, identification, or other source that shows the error. Preserve both the request and the response. Starting with an aggregator can spread the mistake while leaving the government source unchanged.
Kane Release Alerts and Transfers
Utah VINE covers custody information from Utah prisons and jails. A person can be searched by name or offender number after Utah is selected at VINELink. Phone or email alerts may cover release, transfer, escape, death, and defined UDC movements. VINE is a notification service fed by agencies, not a certified release record. Confirm an alert with the reporting agency.
Federal paths differ. USMS holds many federal defendants before acquittal, release, or commitment to BOP, but it has no public inmate locator. The BOP locator covers federal prisoners from 1982 forward. A past date with location “RELEASED” means the person left BOP custody, not that federal supervision ended or another agency did not take custody. ICE ODLS covers current custody and, according to ICE, releases within the prior 60 days, subject to exclusions and lag.
Tuesday Utah Prison Releases
UDC says paroles and releases are processed each Tuesday and most are completed at Utah State Correctional Facility in Salt Lake City. Almost all UDC prisoners housed in a county jail also process release through USCF. A person paroling to a Community Correctional Center is transported there by UDC, so that movement is a structured placement rather than an unrestricted trip home.
The UDC Release Day page also says a release-team member or volunteer may take a person without a ride to a nearby UTA TRAX station, with case-specific details. People without rides release last. None of these state-prison rules is a Kane County Jail promise. Kane publishes no jail release hour, weekend rule, exit door, waiting area, property process, or transportation program.
The screenshot helps keep the long-distance state-prison journey separate from a local Kanab jail departure.
Kane Released or In Custody
Choose the system by legal status, not by the place where the case began. A Kane arrest may lead to county release, state commitment, federal detention, or immigration transfer.
| Status | Best first channel | Durable proof |
|---|---|---|
| Currently at Kane County Jail | Jail phone and current-inmate services | Booking record |
| Released from Kane County Jail | Jail call, VINE, and court docket | Sheriff release or movement entry |
| State prisoner or current parolee | UDC Offender Search | Latest Board order and UDC record |
| Fully discharged from UDC | Board history and UDC GRAMA request | Termination or expiration record |
| Federal custody or past BOP release | Federal docket or BOP locator | Court order or BOP record |
| ICE custody or recent ICE release | ICE ODLS | ICE record plus Kane movement entry |
