Find Kane County Jail Releases

To find someone released from Kane County Jail, separate a true return to the community from a move into another agency's custody. Kane County, Utah, does not publish a searchable release archive. A sound Kane County Jail release search therefore combines the jail's own movement record with the court order that authorized the result. If the person transferred, the receiving agency becomes the next source. That approach can confirm the release type, the legal basis, and the destination without treating a missing web result as proof that custody ended.

Kane County Jail Release Paths

A departure from Kane County Jail can end in several places. A person may return to the community on cash bail, a court's pretrial conditions, or after completing a definite county jail term. A state-prison commitment sends the person into Utah Department of Corrections jurisdiction. Another warrant or detainer can cause a handoff to a different county, the U.S. Marshals Service, or another authority. Each event removes the person from Kane custody. Only some are community releases.

The best proof joins two records. The Kane County Jail booking, release, or custody-movement entry supplies the time and physical destination. The Utah court docket or signed order explains why the jail acted. If the movement entry names a receiving agency, check that agency's locator or records office too. This three-part chain prevents a transfer from being mislabeled as freedom.

Ask the jail for the release type in plain terms. A cash-bail exit and release on pretrial conditions both place the person outside the jail while the case continues. Completion of a county sentence answers only the local term. A UDC commitment, federal remand, or detainer means another authority can take control at the door. The destination field is therefore as important as the release date.

Confirm a Kane Jail Release

Kane County's official inmate-information page is not a name roster. It serves people currently housed by explaining visits, mail, calls, and accounts. It has no booking archive, release field, or recent-release view. A blank search elsewhere must not be treated as a Kane County Jail release. Start with a source that can give a dated, positive answer.

  1. Call Kane County Jail at 435-644-4914 and ask whether the person is held now. If not, ask whether staff can state a departure date and whether the event was release or transfer.
  2. Search the Utah court case by name or case number. Read the case history for a bail ruling, release order, sentence, or disposition.
  3. Use the Sheriff's GRAMA request route for the booking and release or custody-movement entry.
  4. If the entry shows a transfer, search the receiving authority. A UDC commitment belongs in the state offender system, not the county inmate page.
Important: “Not currently held” answers only the present-custody question. It does not identify the release type, time, or destination.

For a broader named-person search and an explanation of how county, state, court, VINE, and federal sources fit together, use the Kane County released-inmate search. Keep the spelling, date of birth, booking number, and case number consistent across systems.

Kane Jail Release Records

The sheriff is the originating office for Kane County Jail booking and movement data. Describe an existing record with care. A useful request asks for the booking number, booking date and time, release date and time, release authority or type, and destination or receiving agency for a named person and approximate date range. Ask for electronic delivery or inspection if that meets the need, and state a cost ceiling.

The sheriff says a routine request can take up to ten business days. Listed copy charges are $5 for the first one through ten black-and-white pages, then $0.25 for each added page, $1 per color page, and $25 per video or DVD. Search, retrieval, and direct administrative costs may apply. Full estimated payment is due before processing. Do not assume visitation or fingerprinting hours are records-desk hours; call before an in-person trip.

Private or protected records may be limited to the subject or another person entitled under Utah law, with identification. Controlled records are not released. If material is withheld, the response should identify its classification and appeal route. A narrow request often makes the result clearer and reduces cost.

Kane Jail Court Release Proof

Utah court data gives the legal half of Kane County Jail release proof. District Court handles felony and class A matters. Kane County and Orderville Justice Courts handle limited-jurisdiction cases. Search Utah XChange by name, then narrow by Kane County, court type, case type, and date range. Compare the case number and available birth data before relying on a match.

A release order authorizes the jail to act. It does not prove the minute when processing finished. A dismissal explains the case outcome but may not resolve a different warrant. Likewise, a sentence entry can show time served or probation, yet another hold can still control where the person went. Pair the court event with the jail movement entry.

Most district courthouses offer free public CORIS access. The courthouse terminal route can help when remote XChange access is not practical. Juvenile, sealed, and expunged matters are not shown in the public system. Their absence is not proof that the event never existed.

Note: Kane district electronic coverage is complete from its CORIS start date, while older converted case data may be incomplete.

Kane County Jail Custody

Kane County Jail is the county booking facility in the Kane County Public Safety Complex. The sheriff's official description says booking gathers basic information, fingerprints, and photographs. A magistrate sets bail within 24 hours. Depending on the case, the person may be held without bail, post cash bail, or qualify for release on pretrial conditions.

Those options are not interchangeable. Bail or pretrial release means the criminal case can remain open outside the jail. Time served means the custodial part ordered in that case has ended. Probation is court-ordered community supervision and may follow a jail term. A transfer means the person remains in custody elsewhere. The movement record should name which path occurred.

Release
A departure from Kane custody, which may be to the community or another authority.
Detainer
A request or legal basis for another agency to take or keep custody.
Transfer
A move between custodial authorities, not a community release.
Pretrial release
Court-approved release while the charge is still pending.

Kane Jail Booking Photo Records

A photograph is made during booking, but Kane County does not publish an official photo roster. A request for a booking photograph follows the sheriff's GRAMA process and remains subject to record classification. Public booking facts do not automatically make every image releasable.

Utah Code § 17-72-802 requires a signed statement that a requested booking photo will not be placed in a publish-for-pay publication or website. A sheriff may deny a protected image or one intended for that barred model. Requesters should state their purpose truthfully and ask only for the needed record. The booking photo also cannot show when or why release occurred; the movement entry and court record answer those questions.

The official Kane County Jail page shows the correct Utah facility context:

That source identifies the Kanab jail and its process, which helps avoid confusing Kane County, Utah, with similarly named agencies elsewhere.

Kane Jail Release Search Limits

Kane County is large and rural, while its official web approach is based on contact and record requests. Search results often surface Kane County, Illinois, including app listings and roster vendors. Verify that a result uses the kane.utah.gov domain, a Kanab address, or clear Utah agency context before using it.

No official Utah Kane County sheriff app, public release schedule, family waiting area, release exit, weekend rule, property-return procedure, or transportation program was identified. Those details should come from the jail for the specific case. State-prison release practices, including Tuesday processing at USCF and transit help near Salt Lake City, do not apply to Kane County Jail.

A “Book and Release” charge on the county Civil Process fee page is a sheriff service item. It is not an inmate list, a release certificate, or a lookup fee. Reliable Kane County Jail release confirmation remains a positive jail record, the matching court event, and any named receiving authority.

For time-sensitive notice, Utah VINE can report a source agency's custody change and accept registrations for alerts. Treat the event as a lead. Record the reporting agency and event time, then call that agency and obtain its record. VINE can describe a release or transfer, but it does not replace the dated Kane jail entry or the court order. The public system may also lag, so a missing or delayed result must be stated with that limit.
